Forecast: High temps 'well above seasonable' Tuesday, Wednesday on Long Island

Given the weekend's winds, with the highest gust of 52 mph recorded at Long Island MacArthur Airport, it may not be too surprising that Monday is expected to be on the breezy side, with seasonable highs in the mid to upper 50s, forecasters say.

Milder air is on the way, as Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to see highs "well above seasonable," in the lower 60s and mid 60s respectively, the National Weather Service says.

Look for dry skies until possibly late Wednesday, with widespread, steady rainfall likely on Thursday into Thursday night, said Brian Ciemnecki, weather service meteorologist based in Upton.

As of Monday's forecast, that could mean an average of 1 to 1.5 inches for the Island.

Thursday's highs are forecast for the lower 60s, he said, dipping back down to the more seasonable mid-50s on Friday.
