Another near-perfect summer day is on tap Thursday for Long Island, the National Weather Service said.

The forecast for Nassau and Suffolk counties is sunny, blue skies with daily highs near 80 degrees, the service's Upton office said.

A north wind at 5 to 10 mph shifts to the west in the afternoon.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said hot, humid conditions should return by the weekend and continue into the first part of next week.

Traffic on major roadways was moving well during the morning commute, according to the state Department of Transportation website, informny.com.

The Long Island Rail Road also was reporting good service at its site, mta.info/lirr.
