Long Islanders are in for a cold overnight in the mid 20s, and then a chilly Tuesday with scattered flurries, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service is calling for traces of snow after 11 a.m. that may turn into sprinkles after 2 p.m. with thickening clouds and a high of 42 degrees.

Temperatures will drop to freezing Tuesday night as skies clear, with light winds, and then bounce back Wednesday to the mid 40s and sunny skies.

Wednesday night into Thursday will bring a chance of rain. And, though cloudy, Thursday will be a warmer 54 during the day, forecasters said, with a 40% chance of showers in the morning.

After that, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all should be sunny with daytime highs in the mid-40s and nighttime lows in the 30s, according to the weather service.

There's a 30% chance of rain Monday, forecasters said.
