Forecast: 'Several inches' of rain possible late in week
There's potential for "several inches" of rain Friday through Saturday, courtesy of a low pressure system expected to head to Long Island, according to the National Weather Service.
"Extensive tropical moisture" associated with a low pressure from the Gulf of Mexico "expected to pass over or near the region late Friday into Saturday" could bring rain that leads to flooding, the weather service said in a hazardous weather outlook issued Tuesday.
"Specifics on the amount of rainfall are very uncertain at this time other than to point out that the potential does exist for several inches of rainfall. . ."
