Friday's balmy weather in the 60s on Long Island is expected to give way to cooler temperatures Saturday and for the next few days.

The National Weather Service said Friday that after the thermometer was expected to dip to about 30 degrees Friday night, the high temperature should only get up to about 46 degrees under sunny skies Saturday. A west wind should blow at 11 to 15 mph with gusts reaching 26 mph.

With the winds and dry conditions, the weather service said Friday that for the region: "A period of enhanced potential for brush fire spread is anticipated for Saturday afternoon. Relative humidity values are expected to fall to around 20 percent."

The weather service said that on Long Island on Sunday the high temperature will be near 52 degrees with sunny skies. Winds are expected to increash to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon with gusts touching 33 mph.

Monday is also expected to be sunny with a high near 36.

The high temperatures during the rest of the workweek will range from 41 degrees Tuesday to about 50 Thursday.

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday all have a 30% chance of rain while Wednesday should be partly sunny, the weather service said.
