Sunny skies and cooler temperatures will make for a pleasant Saturday across Long Island.
"We are seeing the start of the fall-like temperatures," said Lauren Nash, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.
Islip has been experiencing lower than normal temperatures. Friday's high was 71 degrees, and a low of 51 was recorded after midnight Saturday morning, Nash said.
The normal high temperature is 77 and the normal low is 66 in Islip this time of year.
Cloud cover will increase Sunday, when highs will be in the lower 80s. The temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-40s and low 50s on Sunday. Sunshine should follow the cold front, Nash said.
"Looks like its going to go back and forth actually. Tomorrow, we'll be back into the low 80s but then Monday in the 70s again. ... Each day will be a little bit different," Nash said.
Monday should be sunny with highs in the lower 70s.
