The National Weather Service Friday warned of an East Coast storm expected next week that "could bring heavy precipitation and strong winds" Wednesday into Thursday.

While "accumulating snow" is possible, it's too early to "quantify," the service said in a hazardous weather outlook.

As of Friday, weather models were indicating many variables and uncertainty as to how conditions might evolve, said Dan Hofmann, weather service meteorologist in Upton, referring to a disturbance developing Friday in the North Pacific, expected to reach the Pacific Northwest on Sunday when details should come into focus.

There "will be unsettled weather" starting Wednesday, he said, but as of Friday, it's too early to pinpoint severity, timing or type of precipitation.
