A sunny, mostly blue-sky Friday is on tap for Long Island, the National Weather Service said.

Daily high temperatures across Nassau and Suffolk counties will be in the low 80s, with light south winds, the service's Upton office said.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said temperatures for the weekend likely will be above normal.

And while there is "a threat of wet weather for the next 24 hours, most areas will be dry," he said.

Hoffman said the weekend will be much like Friday, with a mix of sun and clouds and a small chance each day of a late-day shower or thunderstorm.

Nighttime lows Friday are expected in the mid 60s, giving way to a Saturday of partly sunny skies and warm, humid conditions.

Daily highs again in the low 80s are expected.

There's a near repeat for Sunday, but slightly cooler temperatures as a cold front moves in. Daily highs near 80 are likely; overnight lows dip into the low 60s.

The cold front drops temperatures slightly again on Monday, which calls for daily highs in the low 70s.

There's also an increased chance of rain, up to 40 percent in some areas.
