This weekend's hazy clouds and warm temperatures could spark some rough weather Sunday, forecasters said.

There is a nearly 70 percent chance of hazardous storms, including small hail and gusty winds, on Long Island on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said the best chance for thunderstorms to kick off is Sunday afternoon.

"The air is unstable and very moist," NWS meteorologist Brandon Smith said.

On Saturday thousands of customers in Hartford and surrounding areas lost electricity after severe thunderstorms swept across Connecticut.

Connecticut Light & Power Co. spokesman Frank Poirot says that more than 16,000 residents in Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties were without power at the height of Saturday's storm.
