The warmer than normal temperatures continued in the region Sunday, with records set at Islip and Kennedy Airport, according to the National Weather Service. Islip hit 69, beating the record of 67 set in 1987 (Islip records date back to 1986).
At Kennedy, where records date to 1949, the mercury hit 71, besting the 69 mark set in 1981.
It wasn't a record day throughout the entire region, though. LaGuardia Airport, where records go back to 1948, hit 76, six degrees below the record set there in 1955. Central Park also hit 76. For the park, with data reaching back to 1869, the record high for April 11 is 84, set in 1955.
