Man, 66, dies in West Hempstead crash, Nassau police say
A 66-year-old man died after his 2021 Chevy SUV collided with a sedan and then struck a pole in West Hempstead on Thursday evening, Nassau police said.
The crash occurred on Hempstead Turnpike at Front Street around 6:57 p.m., police said.
The man, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said.
The other motorist, a 41-year-old woman who was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry, declined medical treatment. No other injuries were reported, police said.
Detectives are still investigating the accident, the police added.
