High pressure ushers in sunny skies for LI
A high-pressure system will lead to higher than average temperatures across Long Island this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunday will remain sunny, with a high of 64 degrees and a low of 46, said Tim Morrin, a meteorologist with the service's Upton bureau.
The warming trend will continue on Monday, with sunny skies leading to a high of 66 degrees and a low of 49.
Tuesday will be partly sunny, with a high of 67 and low of 50 degrees. A 40 percent chance of light showers begins on Tuesday night.
Any precipitation should end by Wednesday morning, Morrin said, leaving a mostly cloudy day with a high of 64 and low of 50.
Thursday will return to partly sunny skies, with a high of 67 and low of 52.
And Friday will be even more pleasant, with mostly sunny skies, a high of 71 and low of 53, Morrin said.
This week's comfortable weather is courtesy of the high-pressure system that is pushing cold air into the northwest part of the country, Morrin said, while keeping temperatures mostly dry and mild in the east.
