LI commuters urged to be aware of black ice
The National Weather Service urged motorists to be aware of patchy black ice Monday morning, "especially on secondary and untreated roads."
With temperatures "at or below freezing" standing water has frozen in some areas, resulting in slippery conditions, the weather service said in a special weather statement issued overnight.
"Use caution when driving this morning," the statement said. "Be alert for areas of ice."
