LI's spring to take chilly detour
The mild weather Long Island has been enjoying is expected to get chilly -- below normal chilly -- come Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Spots of rain will continue through Sunday, with temperatures in the mid- to lower 50s, said Lauren Nash, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton. Temperatures Sunday night will hit the mid-40s, she said.
Monday is expected to be partly sunny with some clouds, with high temperatures in the mid-50s and periodic wind gusts of 30 to 35 miles per hour. But a cold front bringing chilly air from Canada will move in Monday night, dropping temperatures to the mid- to upper 20s -- about five to 10 degrees below normal, Nash said.
Temperatures will recover on Tuesday, with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the mid-30s, Nash said.
Wednesday evening will bring a 30 percent chance of precipitation to the area.
All this leads up to a pleasant weather next weekend, with temperatures forecast to be in the 60s, Nash said.
