The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the metro area, including Nassau County and Western Suffolk County.

The watch is in effect from 2 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday, with the National Weather Service saying one to three inches of rain are "likely" — and localized areas seeing more than four inches "possible."

But as of 5 p.m. Monday, the weather service no longer forecast any severe thunderstorms for Long Island Monday.

Earlier, the service said storms with high winds were predicted for Western Long Island.

Tuesday starts out with a chance of showers and then mostly cloudy conditions with the temperatures in the mid-70s, forecasters said.

Wednesday there is a chance of storms but temperatures rise to the 80s and it should be mostly sunny Thursday, the weather service said, and even warmer.
