Long Island and the metropolitan area was lightly dusted on Saturday morning, but the promise of significant snow accumulation melted quickly.

The early morning forecast is for Long Island to get less than an inch of snow, which may be washed away by rain after 1 p.m., the National Weather Service in Upton said.

The Winter Weather Advisory for Suffolk County has been discontinued.

After the snow, the arctic front will bring a bit colder temperatures, too. Daytime highs Sunday should be in the low to mid 30s; overnight lows will be in the high teens to low 20s.

On Monday, sunny skies return, with the forecast calling for a daytime high of 39 degrees.
