Long Island weather: Warmer temperatures, sunny skies
Coming off a chilly overnight, warmer temperatures are expected to return to Long Island during the day Saturday.
The National Weather Service forecast sunny skies with a high near 45 degrees although winds between 8 and 13 mph early in the day will make it feel chillier.
Saturday night is also expected to have clear skies with a low temperature of around 30.
Sunday should be sunny with a high near 50.
"Westerly winds will allow high temperatures to moderate back into the mid to upper 40s during the day Saturday and into low 50s by Sunday, under mainly sunny skies," the weather service said in its regional summary Friday afternoon.
While the workweek on Long Island is expected to start Monday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 50, Monday night after midnight there is a 30 percent chance of light rain.
Tuesday, light rain is likely, mainly after noon, the weather service said. The chance of precipitation is 60% with an expected high temperature near 49 degrees.
The weather service said there is a 50 percent chance of rain on Wednesday with a high again near 49 degrees
