Long Island forecast: Highs in 80s, warm week ahead

A warm and humid but mostly sunny week is ahead for Long Islanders, with a high of 90 degrees expected in some parts of Nassau on Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Upton.
Temperatures Monday are expected to stay in the low 80s with “noticeable humidity” and partly sunny skies, said meteorologist Jay Engle.
“It won’t be wall-to-wall sunshine,” he said. “It looks like a humid week ahead.”
Monday night will bring patchy fog and a 20 percent chance of rain, he said.
The chance of rain is predicted to stay the same on Tuesday, Engle said, with temperatures in the low-to-mid-80s.
Wednesday is expected to have “hazy sunshine,” with continued humidity and temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s.
On Thursday, the temperature in parts of Nassau County will hit 90 degrees, with the rest of the Island in the upper 80s, Engle said.
Similar weather is forecast for Friday — a mostly sunny day with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s that climb to 90 degrees in some areas of Nassau, he said.
The weekend should be “a little less humid,” Engle said.
