Long Island forecast: Partly sunny, highs in mid-60s
Long Island figures to get partly sunny skies Wednesday with daily highs in the mid-60s, the National Weather Service said.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said there will be some breaks of sunshine during the day and also a chance of showers on the South Shore in the late morning.
North winds are at 5 to 9 mph, the service’s Upton office said.
Clouds linger into the nighttime hours, Hoffman said, and patchy fog develops overnight. Winds shift slightly to the north-northeast at 5 to 10 mph. Overnight lows are in the upper 40s.
Thursday gets mostly clouds with some sunshine breaking through. There’s also a chance for spotty showers during the late afternoon and into the evening hours, Hoffman said.
Daily highs Thursday also are expected to be in the mid-60s, Hoffman said.
In fact, daily highs for much of the next seven days are forecast to be around normal for this time in May, he said.
The best day in the stretch looks to be Friday, when Hoffman said temperatures could be in the 70- to 75-degree range under mostly sunny skies.
“Friday looks great,” he said.
