Long Island forecast: Rain moves out, sun moves in

Tuesday afternoon was bringing mostly sunny skies and some windy conditions, with temperatures rising into the low 80s, forecasters said.
Long Island MacArthur Airport was registering 80 degrees as of just before noon, with winds from the southwest of 15 mph, gusting to 21 mph, according to the National Weather Service’s site.
“Sunny and breezy for this afternoon,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said. “Summer starts early Wednesday morning, and the first weekend of the summer looks OK. Temperatures near normal going into the weekend.”
There is a high risk of rip currents at Atlantic Ocean beaches through Tuesday evening, and a small craft advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. Wednesday from the Fire Island Inlet to Montauk Point, the weather service said.
Wednesday will be sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., and Thursday should be mostly sunny, the weather service said.
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms again Friday after 1 p.m., but otherwise partly sunny, the weather service said.
Saturday and Sunday should be partly to mostly sunny with high temperatures in the low 80s, the weather service said.
