Long Island forecast: Seasonable temps, a few clouds

Long Islanders should expect “seasonably cool temperatures” on Monday that are just a few degrees below normal, the National Weather Service said.

The mostly sunny morning will give way to clouds in the afternoon with temperatures in the mid-70s, according to Joe Pollina, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton. The Twin Forks should see slightly lower temperatures.

There is a high risk of rip currents forecast for Monday, which could extend into Tuesday, he said.

Tuesday is expected to bring highs in the lower 70s island-wide, Pollina said, with cloudy skies and a 20- to 30-percent chance of showers starting in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, there will be fewer clouds but a slight chance of showers for the East End from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., he said. Temperatures will be in the low- to mid-70s.

Pollina said the high is typically about 79 degrees this time of year.
