Severe storms, possible tornado and hail forecast for Tuesday evening, meteorologists say

A cold front moving through the region Tuesday afternoon and evening will bring a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, forecasters said Monday night.
Along with that is "a slight risk" for severe thunderstorms, which are not expected to be widespread, said Jay Engle, National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton.
A hazardous weather outlook for Long Island indicates the possible development of severe thunderstorms, with main threats coming from damaging wind gusts and large hail. There's also "a very low probability of an isolated tornado," the service said.
Though the metropolitan area is looking at possible highs in the lower 90s, the forecast for Long Island MacArthur Airport temperature is for around 86, Engle said.
