After an unusually warm but cloudy Wednesday with highs in the upper 40s, showers are forecast to arrive overnight with the possibility of a storm, the National Weather Service said.
"Rain intensity increases after midnight with a possibility of isolated thunderstorms embedded within showers. This quickly comes to an end Thursday morning as the cold front pushes east of Long Island," the weather service said in its Wednesday afternoon regional summary.
The dry air that's due to move in Thursday also bring gusty winds. That means it will feel cooler, even though the high will be in the 40s, before even chillier temperatures and wind chills for the weekend.
The weekend looks to be dry, but Saturday and Sunday's high temperatures will be in the upper 30s, the weather service said.
Monday will be sunny and a little warmer — the high is expected to be around 41 degrees, the weather service said. Then on Tuesday, temperatures will rise to the upper 40s but there is also a 40% chance of showers.
