Long Island will continue to enjoy its mild winter, with unseasonably warm weather predicted this week.

Temperatures will reach highs in the mid-40s Sunday through Monday, the upper 40s on Tuesday, and the lower 50s on Wednesday, said David Stark, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.

That's an average of five to 10 degrees above normal for this time of year, he said.

Lows on Sunday and Monday will be in the 20s.

A weak system moving through the area Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning will bring with it a chance of light rain and clouds, but it will likely turn into a dry Wednesday, Stark said.

Temperatures may begin to fall back down into the 40s on Thursday and Friday, with a chance of precipitation on those days.

"It's mainly quiet weather the next couple days," Stark said.
