An unbroken stretch of nice weather will continue to elude Long Island in the coming days, with forecasters anticipating clouds and possible showers between patches of warm temperatures and sunshine.

Fog on Thursday morning will give way to a mostly cloudy day, with a high of around 64 degrees followed by a slight chance of showers overnight into Friday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The sun will return Friday, when temperatures are expected to reach 70 degrees. But forecasters see a 30 percent chance of showers overnight into Saturday, ushering in a mostly cloudy weekend with a chance of showers on both days. The temperature will rise to nearly 66 on Saturday and 60 on Sunday, according to the weather service.

A sunnier day is then forecast for Monday, when the temperature may reach 66 degrees.
