Sunny skies will mark the week ahead as the National Weather Service says Tuesday is the only day with a chance of rain in the forecast.

There is a 40% chance of showers and a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Tuesday, the weather service said Sunday evening.

But Monday, and every other day in the work week and the weekend looks clear and sunny, even as temperatures gradually cool.

Monday's high will be about 77 degrees, with a breeze of up to 15 mph. But high temperatures will drop throughout the week to about 10 degrees lower by Friday. Lows will be in the mid-50s as autumn weather takes hold, forecasters said.

There is a high risk of rip currents on South Shore beaches Monday and Tuesday, the weather service said.

Next weekend's weather also looks good, with partly to mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the high 60s.
