Long Island weather: Mostly cloudy, but dry

Long Islanders can put away their umbrellas. The rain seems to be done, said Carlie Buccola, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton. 

However,  Saturday will remain mostly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-60s, Buccola said.

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to be in the upper 40s. And Long Islanders can look forward to a mostly sunny day but should prepare to bundle up as things will get much more breezy. 

"Tomorrow will be noticeably cooler," Buccola said Saturday. "You'll definitely feel it." 

The weather service issued a freeze watch for Suffolk County from late Sunday night to Monday morning for temperatures in the mid-20s to lower 30s. The watch means temperatures are expected to be so cold that crops and sensitive vegetation could die.

Monday, too, is expected to be mostly sunny, though a bit less cool — temperatures will be in the high 50s, the service said. 

"Long Islanders can look forward to a dry week with mostly sunny days," Buccola said. "But temperatures will remain cool in the 50s throughout the week."
