Long Island weather: Below normal temps next 7 days

With Long Island MacArthur Airport reaching a chilly 35 degrees Thursday afternoon — feeling more like 25 with the wind chill, Long Islanders are facing a continuing string of colder-than-normal days.
Friday, St. Patrick’s Day, is expected to head up to around 40, with Saturday through Tuesday looking at the low to mid 40s, forecasters say.
In fact, “temperatures remain below normal through the next seven days,” said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist. The normal average high for this time of the year is 47 degrees.
Already the monthly temperature at Long Island MacArthur Airport was averaging 2.7 degrees below normal, as of day-end Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The overnight hours bring lows of around 20 degrees.
The overnight hours Friday bring a chance of snow toward Saturday morning.
