Starting Wednesday, the National Weather Service’s Upton office calls for a stretch of dry days on Long Island with temperatures in the low 40s to mid 30s under mostly sunny skies.

West winds blow from about 5 to 10 mph on Wednesday before shifting slightly to the north and increasing on Thursday.

There’s also a chance for a wintry mix overnight Friday into Saturday morning, the service said.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said Wednesday brings “drier conditions with lighter winds” and leads into a mostly “mild weekend.”

Hoffman said the sunshine should push out clouds later Wednesday afternoon, with winds shifting slightly to the west northwest.

Skies are clear Wednesday night, with overnight lows in the mid 20s.

Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny, breezy and chilly, with daily highs in the mid 30s, he said.

On Friday, highs creep toward the 40s, with clouds increasing and a chance for an overnight wintry mix.

But by Saturday temperatures climb again, into the upper 40s for most of the weekend.
