Long Island gets cloudy skies and a chance of light afternoon rain on Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

Daily highs will be in the upper 50s with northeast winds at 7 to 11 mph, the service’s Upton office said. Winds increase only slightly and shift to southeast in the afternoon.

Overall, the chance of precipitation is 20 percent, with light rain possibly developing after 3 p.m.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said temperatures will be below normal through weekend. And it appears conditions will be wet Sunday for the Long Island Marathon, he said.

Overnight conditions include clouds, spotty showers, drizzle and fog, Hoffman said. Lows are in the low 40s.

Friday starts with clouds, and scattered showers and drizzle linger throughout the day.

Daily highs once again are in the mid-50s.
