Expect a wet end to the workweek, with an unsettled weekend of weather on Long Island, forecasters say.

After partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid- to high-50s Thursday afternoon, clouds will be on the increase before showers develop overnight, forecasters say.

There’s a 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 1 a.m. Friday, the National Weather Service said.

“Rain likely, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm” after 9 a.m., with some of those storms producing heavy rainfall, according to the weather service.

Expect an east wind blowing at 16 mph to 18 mph and between 1 and 2 inches of rain is possible, forecasters say. The high is expected to be near 61 degrees.

“Wet and windy for Friday — kinda ugly,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.

There is a 40 percent chance of daytime showers Saturday and a 30 percent chance of showers Sunday, the weather service said.

The temperature both days should top out in the low 60s.

Hoffman said the weekend weather looked “unsettled . . . not a washout but more clouds that sunshine.”
