Long Island weather: Cold, windy Wednesday
Cold, windy conditions continue across Long Island on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Although temperatures won’t be as harsh as the previous two days and winds diminish slightly, winter still has a firm grip on Nassau and Suffolk counties, the service’s Upton office said.
“Gusty northwest winds should gradually subside,” the service said, and temperatures will be more moderate when compared with the past couple of days.
Clouds increase during the day, with daily highs near 36. Windchill values will make it feel like between 10 and 20 degrees.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman called for breezy, cold weather with some wind gusts at 30 mph.
Clouds develop during the nighttime hours, which also bring a chance of flurries. Winds subside again, from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Overnight lows are in the mid 20s.
Thursday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with winds from the northwest kicking up again. Highs will be in the mid 30s, Hoffman said, with windchill values making it feel between 15 and 25 degrees.
