Long Island forecast: Rain starts the work week
Wet weather will be moving in overnight and into Monday, the National Weather Service said.
Starting after 2 a.m Monday, the chance of showers for Long Island begins to increase until there is a 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms starting at 8 a.m. and lasting all day and into the evening, forecasters said. Temperatures will be in the 70s and it will be cloudy.
Showers are again likely overnight Monday into Tuesday with about a 50% chance of precipitation mainly before 9 a.m. Otherwise the day looks mostly cloudy with a high in the upper 70s.
Peeks of sun return Wednesday and sunny skies are predicted for Thursday with temperatures in the upper 70s. Friday looks sunny, too, with a high around 80.
The forecast calls for a 30% chance of rain Saturday with temperatures in the lower 80s.
