Long Island weather: Dry Easter weekend to follow Friday rain

Friday has been clocking in with overcast skies, some fog and areas of mist, drizzle and light rain, forecasters said. But the wet weather will give way to a mostly sunny Easter holiday weekend.
As of late afternoon, Nassau County was seeing breaks in the clouds, with the tail end of the rain still falling over the National Weather Service’s Upton office, meteorologist Carlie Buccola said.
While the temperature at Long Island MacArthur Airport reached a high of 58 degrees on Friday, the overnight low was expected to be in the upper 30s as a cold front passes through, making for a chilly night, she said.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said it would be mostly dry this weekend.
Saturday will be mostly sunny with daily highs in the low 50s — about 5 to 8 degrees above normal for this time of year.
Easter Sunday also could bring highs in the low 50s under mostly sunny skies. Clouds will develop late in the day, with overnight showers possible, Hoffman said.
That leads into an unsettled start to the workweek, with the weather service indicating a 70 percent chance of rain for Monday.
