Long Islanders woke up to temperatures in the teens Monday  -- and the prospect of flurries tonight.

The temperature at Islip was 19 degrees early this morning, with the National Weather Service predicting a rise to the mid-40s by this afternoon.

Tonight is forecast to be mostly cloudy with a chance of sprinkles in the evening, and then a chance of flurries or more sprinkles after midnight. Wind gusts may hit 35 mph.

Tuesday should be partly sunny, with highs in the mid-40s.

As for LIers hoping for a white Christmas, the weather service has mixed news -- at the moment, there's a chance of rain and snow for Christmas Eve, with a low right around the freezing mark.

But the high Christmas Day is forecast to hit 45.
