A coastal storm that brought wet snow upstate doused Long Island with plain rain Tuesday but conditions were still miserable.

The rain came with gusts of more than 20 mph and temperatures in the low 40s, according to the National Weather Service. The chilly rain was expected to last throughout the day and into the late evening.

Gov. Kathy Hochul had issued a warning on Monday evening to New Yorkers ahead of the storm, which brought snow to upstate counties and parts of New Jersey.

Wednesday will bring sunshine but a high of 41 with wind chills between 25 and 35 degrees and a low in the 30s.

A cold front will move through Long Island on Thursday, with highs possibly below freezing on Friday, NWS meteorologist Bryan Ramsey said, and lows in the teens.

There's a slight chance that some light snow could dust the ground early Saturday.
