Veterans Day brought a high temperature of 53 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport, as well as 0.46 of an inch of rain, the National Weather Service said.

Thursday brings a coastal flood advisory for the South Shore and back bays from 6 a.m. to noon and for coastal areas along western Long Island Sound from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the service said. That means that minor coastal flooding of vulnerable shore roads and properties is expected.

Showers are also expected Thursday, the weather service said, with around a quarter to a third of an inch possible. The risk of rain, though, will be higher in the afternoon, the weather service said.
