Sunny skies, low humidity, high temperatures around the mid 70s — a bit cooler on the East End.

What’s not to like about Monday’s weather forecast for Long Island?

The credit goes to a high pressure area building over the region that’s to produce “plenty of sunshine” with seasonable temperatures, the National Weather Service said in a regional weather summary.

“After temperatures have been well above normal,” Monday brings “sunny skies and temperatures about normal,” with 76 the normal high and 59 the low, said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.

Those visiting ocean beaches should be aware of a moderate risk for the development of rip currents, says the weather service, which also recommends swimming only in areas with lifeguards.

As for Tuesday, “a hot air mass over the Midwest bleeds into the area,” raising temperatures by several degrees, the weather service says.

There is a downside, though, to the dry skies expected for most the week. As Hoffman points out, that brings no relief for the area’s drought conditions.
