A breezy, chilly Thanksgiving week in the Long Island forecast

A breezy and chilly Monday with below-average temperatures is expected to kick off Thanksgiving week, according to the National Weather Service in Upton.
While Monday’s weather is forecast to be “very similar” to Sunday’s, meteorologist David Stark said the wind gusts will not be as strong as the weekend’s.
On Sunday, gusts reached 52 mph on Fishers Island and 45 mph at MacArthur and Republic airports, Stark said. Trees and power lines were reported down in parts of Suffolk County, and nearly 2,000 PSEG Long Island customers were without power on Sunday afternoon.
Monday’s winds, however, are expected to include gusts between 20 and 30 mph, Stark said.
High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 40s after a colder morning, he said. The high temperature is usually 52 degrees during this time of year.
