Area meteorologists said the remaining hours of Friday should be partly cloudy with a low temperature of around 67 degrees and a light northeast wind of 8 to 10 mph.

Saturday's weather should be dry and pleasant, National Weather Service forecasters said, predicting that it should be mostly sunny with a high temperature for the day of 82 degrees.

Northeast winds will range from 13 to 15 mph, according to meteorologists based in Upton.

But there is a 20 percent chance of showers after midnight, which will see mostly cloudy skies and a low temperature of around 66 degrees, with the northeast winds dying down to about 10 mph.

Rain may be in the cards for Sunday, when there is a 40% chance of precipitation. The high temperature will be around 77 degrees with northeast winds passing through at 11 mph.

"At the moment models are keeping the heaviest rainfall south of Long Island," the weather service said. "However if the system drifts north, rain amounts ranging between one to two inches total across southern New York, northeast New Jersey and southern Connecticut are not out of the question," it said, warning flash floods may arise late this weekend.

The chance of rain dips to 30% on Sunday night, as does the temperature for the day, to 65 degrees and a northeast wind of 8 to 10 mph.

Monday brings sunny skies with temperatures reaching the low 80s, but there's a 40% chance of showers during the day, 30% at night.

And the Tuesday to Friday stretch all looks sunny with temperatures in the low 80s. though Thursday offers a 30% chance of rain.
