Saturday looks to be a good day for the weather on Long Island. Sunday not so much.

The National Weather Service on Friday evening said Saturday will feature sunny skies with a high temperature near 52 degrees, which would be just one degree below the normal high for the date in Islip.

A northwest blowing 9 to 13 mph was predicted for Saturday.

Increasing clouds are expected Saturday night with a low of around 39 degrees.

Showers are considered likely Sunday mainly before 2 p.m. The high temperature should be near 50 degrees. The chance of precipitation is listed as 60%.

The new workweek is expected to start Monday with mostly sunny skies. Tuesday is expected to be partly sunny, but then showers are likely Wednesday, with a chance of precipitation 60%, the weather service said.

Thursday also has a 60% chance of rain before partly sunny skies are forecast for Friday.

Daily high temperatures during the workweek should be in the low to mid 50s, the weather service said.
