The sun is expected to be out Saturday over Long Island and while there may be some cloudiness as the weekend progresses, the rain should stay away at least until late Monday night.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for clear skies Saturday with a high temperature of around 54 and a west wind of 7 to 13 mph.

Saturday night is expected to mostly cloudy with a low around 36.

The clouds will linger Sunday through mid morning before gradual clearing, according to the weather service. The high should be about 48 degrees.

"Dry weather is expected through the weekend with winds decreasing for Saturday night through the remainder of the weekend. Temperatures will be on a declining trend, getting closer and closer to normal," the weather service said Friday afternoon in its regional summary.

Monday is expected to be sunny on Long Island with a high near 44, but Monday night there is a chance of rain showers after 10 p.m., mixing with snow after 1 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 30% with a low temperature around 33 degrees.
