Long Island weather: Partly sunny Saturday but showers may be coming
Saturday is expected to be a nice summer day on Long Island, but starting at night and running through the rest of the weekend there will be a slight chance of showers is in the forecast.
The National Weather Service said Friday evening that on Saturday in should be partly sunny with a high temperature near 85 degrees. The wind should blow out of the south from 5 to 11 mph.
Overnight Saturday night into Sunday there will be mostly cloudy skies with a 20% of showers after 3 a.m., the service said. A low temperature of about 68 degrees is expected.
Sunday a slight chance showers before 9 a.m. will turn into a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. although overall the day is expected to be mostly sunny with a high temperature near 84 degrees. The chance of precipitation is again 20%.
The start of the workweek Monday looks to be sunny with a high temperature near 83 degrees.
Tuesday should be mostly sunny but, starting Wednesday, each day through Friday has a 30% chance of showers, according to the weather service.
