Long Islanders on Saturday will see clouds, fog and potentially thunderstorms before the weather clears up Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Showers and thunderstorms will probably happen after 11 a.m. Saturday, with some fog, according to the weather service. Highs for Long Island will be near 70.

A weather service rip current warning will continue for the south shores of Nassau and Suffolk through Saturday evening.

“Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone,” the weather service said in an alert. “Anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the surf.”

Rip currents can pull swimmers out from the shore.

By Saturday night, there will be a slight chance of rain, but not come Sunday, when temperatures will be a high of 76.

Monday, Memorial Day, is expected to be mostly sunny with highs near 80 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to be cooler on the South Fork for the holiday weekend.
