Long Island will enter the start of a warming trend Saturday which could last through the mid part of next week, the National Weather Service has forecasted.

Look for dry conditions on Saturday, with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s, Dave Radell, a meteorologist with the weather service, said.

On Sunday, temperatures will get to the mid-80s, Radell said, adding that people who will head to the beach, particularly on the South Shore, should expect 10 to 15 mph winds.

Temperatures will rise Monday and last possibly through Wednesday, he said.

"It’s looking like temperatures out here are going to be close to 90 for a couple of days in a row," said Radell, adding that three days in a row of 90-degree weather would be a heatwave.

The next chance of rain could be on Tuesday, but Radell said the possibility is at 30%. "Not a soaker by any means," he said.

Meanwhile, the weather service has said "highs will rise into the upper 80s/lower 90s by Monday from New York City and points north and west, with the lower to mid-80s closer to the coast."
