Long Island weather: A sandwich with rain early, late, sun in middle
Saturday, Long Island could to see thunderstorms early and late with some sun in between.
The National Weather Service said Friday evening that there was a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 a.m. Saturday, then mostly cloudy skies gradually becoming sunny with a high temperature near 88 degrees, and finally a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. A west wind should blow 7 to 9 mph and the chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday night there is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms with a low temperature around 67 degrees, the weather service said.
Sunday, Father's Day, is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 87 degrees.
Every day of the coming workweek looks to be sunny to mostly sunny except for Tuesday when there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
The high temperature on Monday is expected to be near 85 degrees, but the highs for the rest of the week should be a degree or two either side of 80, the weather service said.
