Long Island weather: Friday clouds to clear for sunny weekend

The end of Long Island’s workweek gets partly sunny skies and temperatures a bit cooler than earlier in the week, the National Weather Service said.
Daily highs Friday reach just past 70 degrees with winds from the east at 5 to 11 mph, the service’s Upton office said.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Matt Hammer said clouds will break at times Friday, allowing for some rays of sunshine.
“There’s just a small chance for a stray shower,” Hammer said.
Temperatures are expected to warm for the weekend, Hammer said. Both Saturday and Sunday, Father’s Day, call for sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
“The weekend looks perfect,” Hammer said. “Upper 70s to low 80s, low humidity.
“Great for Dad on Sunday. Great for anything outdoors.”
Friday night turns cool, with lows in the mid 50s, he said.
