Long Island, how do temperatures in the 50s sound?

Highs Friday are expected to come in warmer than normal, heading up to the low 50s with winds from the southeast, forecasters say. That follows 10 days that were colder than normal.

Still, Long Islanders may be more reluctant to say farewell to the sunny skies that accompanied the cold stretch, with the National Weather Service forecasting varying chances of rain from Friday through Sunday night.

After Thursday's wet weather, the weather service issued a statement about possible ice on roadways throughout Long Island on Friday morning.

As the day goes on, Friday brings slight chances of drizzle or light rain during the day, with rain becoming likely overnight into Saturday morning, the weather service said.

The overnight low for early morning Saturday is forecast to be 45 degrees or so, which is warmer than the highest temperatures for the past nine days.

Temperatures Saturday head up to around 50 degrees, with Sunday looking at the mid-40s.

Rain is likely again during the day Sunday.
