Long Island will see rain for much of Saturday, but don't expect that weather to last into next week.
Rain will arrive before 8 a.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service said Friday evening, citing a 60% chance of showers. Thunderstorms will arrive after 11 a.m. Saturday and potentially produce hail, the weather service said. The rain will clear by the evening.
Temperatures on Saturday will reach a high of about 54 degrees, the weather service reports. The normal high for the date in Islip is 56 degrees.
In New York City, the chance for rain Saturday is at 30%, the weather service said, and temperatures will reach a high of around 57 degrees.
From Sunday until at least Wednesday on the Island, mostly sunny skies will push rain out of the forecast and high temperatures will range from the mid-50s to the low-60s, according to the weather service.
