Long Island weather: Springlike weather to continue but just for one more day

The springlike weather Long Island enjoyed Friday is expected to continue during the day Saturday, but by late Saturday night the Island will be back to the cold reality of winter.
The National Weather Service on Friday evening said Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 53 degrees, close to Islip's 55-degree record high for the date set in 1984. The normal high is 40 degrees.
The high recorded Friday was 54 degrees at 1:27 p.m. while the record high for the date was 58 degrees set in 2009.
Southwest winds on Saturday will blow at 8 to 10 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph, the weather service said.
Saturday night into Sunday the forecast calls for increasing cloudiness and a 50% chance of snow after 1 a.m. The low temperature is expected to be about 28 degrees.
There is also be a 50% chance of snow on Sunday with a high temperature near 33 degrees. Sunday night's low temperature is expected to be only about 16 degrees.
The start of the workweek Monday will be mostly sunny with a high near 28 degrees, according to the weather service. Tuesday is expected to be sunny with a high near 36 degrees and Wednesday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 46.
Precipitation may return to Long Island on Thursday as the forecast calls for a 30% chance of showers with a high temperature again feeling springlike at about 55 degrees.
